The school year is rapidly drawing to a close and yet our students still need daily reading practice. Try to make it fun and interesting to keep the motivation high.
- Ask your child to pretend to be a character in the book - act like the character for 10-15 minutes. What would he/she sound like? What would the character like for a snack? What would the character think of your house? Change clothes to look more like the character. Get the family involved and act like several characters from a book
- Write a letter to the character. Ask questions about things you may be wondering about in the story so far. (You could even answer your child's letter as the character might)
- Write a letter from the character to somebody in your family. Write the way you think the character would. Ask questions, explain happenings in the book or add more details to the story that already exists.
